Fresh ingredients: This homemade iced tea strengthens the immune system
If you want to refresh yourself with a cool drink in summer, you should try a homemade iced tea. With the right recipe, the delicious thirst quencher even helps to strengthen the immune system.
The ideal thirst quencher
It is important to drink a lot, especially in summer. Water is an excellent thirst quencher, but it gets boring in the long run. And you should stay away from soft drinks anyway due to the high sugar content. If you want to refresh yourself with a drink that is tasty but low in calories, you should try homemade iced tea. With the right ingredients, the drink also promotes health.
Make delicious iced tea yourself
The following ingredients are required for the iced tea: a fresh turmeric root, a fresh ginger root, three untreated lemons and a little honey or maple syrup.
First, a piece of turmeric and ginger root (about four to five centimeters long) are peeled and roughly chopped.
Then the three lemons, including their peels, are quartered and placed in a tall container with the chopped turmeric and ginger.
The whole is filled with eight glasses of boiling water and covered.
When the drink has cooled to room temperature, it is placed in the refrigerator for twelve to 24 hours.
Depending on your taste, the iced tea can be sweetened with honey or maple syrup.
The delicious drink is not only refreshing, but also promotes health.
Lemons and ginger are two particularly healthy foods. After all, both contain large amounts of vitamin C and therefore help to strengthen the immune system.
In addition, the citrus fruit has a draining effect due to the high potassium content.
Ginger - vitamins and minerals
Ginger is also popular as a home remedy for bloating. The tuber works with digestive problems, diarrhea, loss of appetite and numerous other complaints. Basically, you don't go wrong if you like to spice your soup with ginger, because after all, in addition to the essential oils, the root also contains some vitamins and minerals such as iron, magnesium, sodium and calcium. Because of its sharpness, ginger also has a warming effect and also stimulates blood circulation. So it is no wonder that ginger is also sought after as an aphrodisiac.
Last but not least, the tuber boosts fat digestion and can thus help you lose weight.
Turmeric - healing spice against numerous ailments
Turmeric is a healing spice that is known for its antioxidant and highly anti-inflammatory effects.
The plant is therefore used among other things for arthritis.
But the yellow ginger can do even more, that spice also strengthens the memory and mood of people with mild, age-related memory weaknesses thanks to the ingredient curcumin.
There are also indications that turmeric has a positive effect on the brain because it prevents the accumulation of certain protein complexes in the brain that promote Alzheimer's.
In addition, studies have shown that turmeric can be used to treat liver problems and that the medicinal plant is effective in bowel diseases.
Causes of a weak immune system
Strong immune system disorders result from autoimmune diseases. In these, the defense mechanisms are not directed against intruders, but against the body's own tissue. Strengthening the immune system in these diseases requires great caution, as stimulation can possibly worsen them. With autoimmune diseases, therefore, only modulate and never stimulate.
Medications, such as pain relievers or cytostatics, can also lead to weakness in the immune system. Massive kidney diseases, which lead to protein losses, often result in a disturbed immune system.
The same applies to hunger, diabetes, childhood diseases and, for short periods, also to acute and chronic infections. Excessive exercise, massive exposure to the sun, hormonal imbalances, stress and severe mental and physical stress can also lead to a weakened immune system. (Ad)
